Footprint Ghost Bookmark

Need a bookmark? Try making your very own footprint ghost bookmark. All you need are foam craft and googly eyes.
The ghost is best done on white craft foam. I did not have any white craft foam at the time of doing this, so I settled with yellow foam instead. Trace the outline of your foot onto the foam. Cut it out. Paste the googly eyes and decorate it.

Cut a small slit slightly below the mouth.

Your footprint ghost bookmark is done!

Handprint Fly

Feel like making a fly today.
You'll need a black craft foam, a laminating sheet, pipe cleaner, some yarn, stones for the eyes and glue.
Trace your handprint on the laminating sheet.

Cut two circles of slightly different sizes and a small oval and paste them onto a piece of paper to form the abdomen of the fly.

Spread glue onto the laminating sheet and scatter some yarn all over it.

Sorry for the picture does not really show the 'wings' properly. Anyway, here is the handprint fly.

Fingerprint Goldfish

Let's make a cute fingerprint goldfish for luck.
First, put your orange thumb print as the body of the fish.
Then use your fingertips as the fins (both upper and lower) and tail.
Use markers to draw the eyes and line the fins and tails. Your fingerprint goldfish is ready!

Freaky Hair Smiley

Ethan loves anything smiley! Everything belonging to him will have a smiley sticker on it. I've decided to make his smiley a little bit freaky and happening! ^^
First, draw a circle on a piece of paper. Draw a smiley face on the circle.

Then put a drop of water paint on the top of the smiley head and blow it to form hair. Keep on doing it with different colours all over the head.

Your smiley will look something like this. Cut a circle out of a yellow paper and paste it onto your smiley here. Optional, I cut a 'sunglass' out of black craft foam to make my freaky smiley looks cool!

There you are. The freaky hair smiley!

Origami Boat (3D)

Remember back in our ol' school days we used to fold this boat? I was reminded of this boat by my students. Let's see how she fold this boat.
Fold an a4 paper into half.
Fold the sides to the middle line.
Both sides.
Fold the four corners up to the middle.
And again for all four corners.
Like this.
Fold a small flip at both sides.
The trickiest part is to turn the boat inside out. Once you got that mastered, you'll get your origami boat!
The kids and their boat. Unfortunately, there was no boat for Ethan that day. But he is still happy though! ^^

Hand Print Crab

Isn't this beautiful? A nice and simple to do hand print crab.
First, paint your palm yellow. I got Ethan's chubby hands as my model here.
Then paint all five fingers orange.

Stamp it onto a white paper. Repeat with the other hand. Then using your finger, put 2 black fingerprint as the eyes on the 'thumb'.

The handprint crab is done and Ethan is all smiles!

Foam Bookmark

This is another simple to do craft. A bookmark made of foam.
You'll need some craft foam, key ring and a paper clip. You'll also need some cookie cutters for shapes.

Cut the foam to the shapes you desire.

Glue them together. Use a needle to poke a tiny hole for the key ring.

Insert the key ring and the paper clip and your foam bookmark is ready!

Hand Print Sheep

This hand print sheep is very simple to do.
Just trace the outline of your palm.

Help your little one to cut it out. Then get him to glue all over it.

Paste it onto a piece of paper.

Paste some cotton onto it's body. You're done! Add details such as eye and ribbon.

Ice-cream

Feeling all hot and craving for ice-cream? Try this 'ice-cream' that won't melt! Of course it won't melt, it is made of card board and paper plates. :D
Paint a paper plate red and another yellow. You may paint it any colour as you wish and you may paint as many plates you like. Each colour will represent a scoop on your cone!
Just the middle part will do. Once dried, cut out a 'cloud' shape from each colour to form the 'ice-cream'

Get a recycle box to make the 'cone'. Draw a cone shape and line it with markers or colour pencil.

Once all is done, paste them all together. I added some glitters on the top of my ice-cream as 'toppings'!
Stick it onto a wall or anywhere as you wish. This ice-cream will never melt! :D

Fingerprint Bees

What to do on a bored rainy day? Get your water paint out and let's start finger printing!
First I let him do some 'practise' on a piece of paper.
Upon reaching the 'pro' level, I let him do the finger printing on a new piece of paper! :D
There! After the paint has dried up, I help him draw some stripes and wings and his finger prints are now Buzzing Busy Bees!

Origami Koala

I love Koalas. They are just so cute. Here is a simple way to make your very own Origami Koala.
You'll need a square paper.

Fold it in half.

Fold one end down to the bottom.

Followed by the other.

Fold a flap up.

And another flap for the ears.

Flap it back down a little bit to make it blunt.

Repeat on the other.

Fold down the upper part of the head.

Fold up one side of the lower part of the face.

And the other.

Turn it over and decorate it as you wish.

Origami Fish

Another easy origami to do.
You'll need a square paper to start with.

Fold it into two.

Fold the bottom end up into the middle.

Repeat on the other side.

Fold a flip.

Fold another flip. Can you see Ethan's little fingers joining in the 'glamour'? ^^

Turn it over and you'll get this. Decorate it with eyes and mouth and you're done!

This chubby bee is very easy to do and looks so cute, all kids will love it!
You need to paint the back of one paper plate yellow.
And another paper plate black.
* Cut four stripes of black craft foam and paste onto the yellow paper plate.

* Cut the black paper plate into half and paste it at the back of the yellow plate as wings.

* Use pipe cleaner as the antennae and sting.

* Use googly eyes or stone as the eyes and you're done!

Father's Day Card

Father's Day is around the corner. I've made this card for my Darling, for being the #1 Dad to my precious Ethan. I'll make another for my Dad too, for being the #1 Grandpa to Ethan and the #1 Dad to ME!

I use blue craft foam.
Fold both ends so that they meet in the middle.
Push down the top corner to make the 'collar'. Glue it down.
Draw some lines and cut a line through the pocket to insert a note.
I printed Darling's name and a note to slip into the pocket. Peek-a-boo at what's inside.
Peek again...
Tah-dah! My precious Darlings!

Star

If you are a crafter, it is important to know how to get certain shapes right. Here I would like to share how to fold and cut the perfect star.
Fold once.
Fold again.
Unfold.

Fold the corner to the line in the middle.
Fold the tip down.
Fold vertically.
Cut along the line. Open and you get yourself a beautiful star!

Paper Plate Fish

This is the basic of all paper plate crafts. The simplest to do.
Use a craft scissors to cut out a small triangle. You may also use normal scissors if you do not have any craft scissors.
Stick the small triangle to form a tail.
Now here is the tedious part. I use a craft punch and punch out a thousand 'hearts' from old magazine pages and get Ethan to do the pasting.
Half an hour later, he is still pasting! LOL! You may opt to just color the fish instead.
Use a button, stone or anything you wish for the eye and it's done!

Pop-Up Card - House

A friend of mine will be shifting to her new house soon. I made this card to go along with the house warming gift.First, I print out some congratulatory message on a yellow A4 paper.
Cut 2 lines.
Pinch it out.
Fold it in. Decorate it and the pop-up house is ready! Oh yeah, paste it on another piece of paper to make it sturdier. :D

Butter-fingers

This handprint butterfly is simple to do.
I got Ethan to draw the outline of his palm. And then I helped him cut it out.
Paste the cut-out hands on a piece of paper.
I use black foam for the body and got Ethan to paste the googly eyes.

Pop-Up Card - Shark

Fold a paper in half. Cut a line in the middle using a craft scissor.
Fold each flaps to make 2 triangles.
Unfold them.
Open the card.
Push the triangles up and pinch the edges.
Close the card and push down the folds to make them well-creased.
Open it back and draw a shark on it. Cut along the line.
Glue the outline but do not glue near the mouth or the card won't open. Paste it on another piece of paper; preferable of different colour.

Envelope Bookmark

All you need is an old envelope, a craft scissors and some craft punch.
Cut the corner of an envelope and decorate it as you like.
The idea is to use the corner of an envelope as a bookmark. How you beautify it is up to you! Simple isn't it?

Origami Ladybug

This has got to be one of the simplest origami ever! If you ever want to try origami, this origami ladybug is definitely for you.
Fold a square paper half.
Fold down both corners leaving some space in the middle.
Flip it over and fold the upper part to the middle point.
Fold a little back up.
Flip it over again and decorate it with some black dots.
Simple? Too simple... This origami ladybug is just way too simple. :D

Paper Chain Rabbit

A great way to decorate your wall, notice board, posters or anything is to add this cute paper chain rabbit.
Take a strip of paper. Fold it lapping each other.
Draw a rabbit, making sure the nose and the tail touches the folded area. This is to ensure your rabbits will be chained to each other.
Use a paper punch and punch out a hole for the eyes. Cut along the lines and you'll get your cute paper chain rabbit!

Origami Frog

Sugar Honey taught me this origami frog.

This origami frog is quite simple yet looks difficult to explain.
First, get a square paper and fold all corners to the middle.
Turn it over and fold all corners to the middle again.
Turn it over again and fold all corners to the middle one last time.
Turn it over and you'll get this.
Pinch two of those out to form the eyes.
Like this.
See the eyes? Then press down the mouth.
Flatten the feet.

Ribbon bookmark

This is too simple to do. All you need is a ribbon, foam and googly eyes. Cut out the foam to any shapes desired and add the googly eyes to make it more interesting. Paste the foam on both sides of the ribbon and on both ends too. Alternatively, you may used nice buttons instead of foams.

Handprint Tree

At the playground today, Ethan kept on observing the trees and the falling leaves. He has seen those trees and the leaves everyday for so many months now but wonder why today he was more intrigue by them. So when we got back home, I decided to do this craft with him.
By now this boy is an expert in tracing the outline of his palm. I helped him cut out the 'hands' as he is too young to use the scissors.
I let him do his own pasting. One thing about craft for kids is, the more imperfect it is, the better I like it!

He is so proud of all his crafts, he kept on telling Daddy, "Ethan make tree" and also "Ethan make SUN" referring to his previous Sun craft! :)

Peek-A-Boo Chick

There was once when I kept the eggs in my fridge for far too long that they turn bad. Then hubs jokingly said that luckily it turn bad, otherwise they will hatch! And then, I got an idea for this craft...
All I used was my old place mat and that scouring sponge? Is that what they call it? Some googly eyes and glue are needed too.
Got Ethan to outline the 'egg'.
Ready for assemble.
Cute? It's a gentle reminder to quickly consume the eggs before they hatch! :D

LadyBug Tea Light Holder

I was clearing my drawer when I saw many Chinese New Year greeting cards. Then it hit me, why not turn them into something beautiful, something useful...
Don't throw away your greeting cards. It is getting rare these days as many people opt to send virtual greetings instead...
Cut out a strip to wrap the tea light and a circle for the bug.
Cut out the head and some legs from black craft foam.
I flip through old magazines to find pages with black printout and cut out small circles for the dot on the bug's body. I also cut out my old place mat for the base of my bug.
Glue them all together and I got this beautiful tea light holder, from recyclable items! Simple!

Cute Pom-Pom Chick

This is my first time doing a yarn craft. But I definitely LOVE the result of this Cute PomPom Chick! Isn't it cute?
You'll need this small gadget to make the pom pom.
You'll need to do two pompoms of slightly different sizes. Then tie them up together. Lastly, decorate them and you'll get this...Ahh.. imagine having a cute chick on your phone/fax receiver. Simply cute. ^^

You Are My Sunshine

On this hot sweaty day, let's make the sun looks kinder and cuter so that we don't hate it so much, shall we?

Start by tracing the hand on yellow paper. For small palm like Ethan's, fold the A4 paper twice to get 4 equal parts. Cut out the hand prints. Paint a paper plate yellow.
Only the bottom part of the plate needs to be painted.
Glue the hand prints onto the painted plate.

Add details such as the eyes and a smile and the Sun is done!
Look at the little fella admiring his Sun amongst many other artworks on the wall! :)

The Owl

This is a little bit difficult for Ethan's level. The only thing he managed to do is to hold down the centre section down until the glue dries up. Alternatively, you can just put a clothe peg to hold it down until it dries up.

On one paper plate, fold about a third of the plate over (have the bottom of the plate facing forward). This paper plate will be the owl's head.

On the folded part, cut two short slits and fold them back up. (These will be the owl's tufts - although they look like ears, they are only feathers. An owl's ears are simple holes on the sides of the head).

Glue the center section down.

Glue or staple the head to another paper plate.

Cut another paper plate in half (these will be the wings).

Glue or staple the wings to the body at a slight angle.

Color in the owl, drawing feathers, wings, or other patterns.

I'm a little bit dissapointed with the result of my colouring as the owl looks way too UGLY! If you are going to try this, try colouring it better, just don't end up like MINE! :D

Trace your bare foot on a piece of paper.
Trace your hand with fingers spread slightly on each side of the foot.
Draw the head, eyes, nose and feet. Add in the feathers.

Penguin

Draw an oval for the belly.
Squeeze fingers together and trace around that hand behind the penguin for body.
Draw the eyes and a small triangle for a beak.

Snake

Instructions:

Cut empty toilet paper tubes in half.
Paint it light green.
Paint dark green in the middle of each ring.
Punch a hole in each roll near each edge.
Hook pieces together using paper clips.
Cut a forked tongue out of red paper.
Glue tongue to one end.
On the same end, glue on two wiggle eyes.
Add a string to pull the snake around.
